Experienced Painter - $16 - $25/HR DOE

Alaska Painting and Construction, a BBB accredited business with an A+ rating is looking for skilled painters to paint interior and exterior structures, buildings and other surfaces.

An excellent painter is someone who possesses strong people skills, can present themselves professionally, pays close attention to detail, and comes to work with the goal of producing high quality service. They must be reliable and able to work safely and neatly.

• Ability to read a bid/work order for job scope and details and/or take direction from owner or project manager.

• Make on-site preparations such as securing ladders, masking windows, covering furniture and fixtures, removing outlet covers etc.

• Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, pressure washing, sanding etc.

• Fill cracks and holes with appropriate materials so the finished product has no sign of previous damage

• Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture

• Paint surfaces accurately utilizing various tools such as a sprayer, paint brush, or roller

• Apply varnish or other finishes 

• Adhere to all health and safety precautions

• Adapt to scheduling that is optimal for the client

• Clear communication and friendly demeanor while on the job

• Work neatly and clean up at the end of the day

• Ability to adapt and make sound decisions due to sudden change in weather conditions when painting outdoors (i.e. wind, rain, freezing temperatures)

• Provide your own transportation to and from the job site

• Proven experience as a skilled painter

• Excellent knowledge of painting materials and how to select, mix and/or apply them

• Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques

• Aptitude in using appropriate tools such as brushes, sprayer, caulking gun etc.

• Good basic math skills

• Manual dexterity with excellent balance to safely work on scaffolding, ladders, roofs etc.

• Conscientious with great attention to detail

• Minimum 6 years of interior and exterior painting experience or successful completion of an apprenticeship

• High school diploma or GED

• Reliable transportation and minimum state required insurance
